A Century of Gifts.
Holiday Treasures Art Show and Sale is a great Dufferin County Tradition but we are hardly the first in the County to celebrate the holidays with art and souvenirs. Various Souvenirs were produced as Christmas collectibles of James J Reith department store in Grand Valley James J Reith Jr. was the son of James J Reith Sr. who opened a department store in the village in 1890. JJ Sr. died in 1905. His son Thomas J took over the business and James Jr. opened a competing operation across the street. He became known as “Jimmy” to distinguish him from his father. Each piece is marked face or back with “Christmas Souvenir, James J Reith”. It is believed these were produced ca. 1907 to 1920. Follow this link to the DCMA Website
